2009 is Here!

Well I just wanted to say Happy New year to all those who read the blog and the others who may come across our business. Last year was a great year for the company as it developed. I believe 2009 will be an even better year for JumpFrog as it grows in the New Year. With any new company, it takes time to develop a strong standing foundation and there are going to be many changes over time and I believe we all look forward to them here at JumpFrog. There’s never a better time for change, whether it’s in business or in ones personal life, then in the beginning of the New Year. It’s the one time in the year where most people reflect on the past and then think of the future in a positive light. This gives everyone the motivation to make the changes they want, knowing it’s a fresh start. We’re going to have many new changes happening here which will take some adjusting to but all changes are beneficial. Some just take time in order to be noticed. Were looking forward to 2009 and hope you are too. So with the excitement of the New Year, my question is, what changes are you making happen? Will you follow through?

Here at JumpFrog, we wish you all had safe and happy holidays and that in the new year, you too can make the changes you need to move forward for the better!

People are lazy around here

So no one has posted for a month. We’re hitting the crazy time of the year, and we’re busy promoting all sorts of niches in order to get our piece of the pie. Without giving away what we’re doing, I’ll mention that you need to follow what toys are hot this year, and also realize people get lonely and sad around this time.

The economy has been hard on everyone, however smart marketers need to notice that people aren’t going out to stores as much, and instead are going online to get their gifts and items for the holidays. Affiliate marketing is still doing well, not falling off as much as everything else. Check your stats like I have, and you’ll see it’s one of the few industries still doing well.

Welcome to the jungle, we’ve got fun and games. Office antics make the world go round. Just ask Michelle about chicken tenders or Gianna, Jeff about red wine and Jameson, or me about my blue stress balls and scotch. We like seeing who can hit the phone off the wall from the other side of the room. I’ll stand behind our cubicle walls so it looks like I’m naked (which makes me do my white boy dancing). Then there’s the bowl of destiny. Steve, four times in a row you picked your sister?!?!?

Been a long time

It’s been over two months since I last posted. I’ve been very busy, and had a lot of things happen in both my professional and personal life. When you own a business (or partner in several), there’s a lot of pressure and stress. When you work from home, it’s hard to separate work and home. They spill over onto each other. In today’s world, we all stay connected, answering emails or phone calls on nights and weekends, keeping yourself available in case something happens or someone needs something. As usual, I did some travelling recently. My phone has email and various IM clients (AIM, Gtalk, and Yahoo! are the main ones I need right now), so of course I stay available, even while sitting in an airport waiting for the next flight. But as I said, professional and personal spill over sometimes. I received some bad news about a friend of mine last week, she was hurt very badly in a car accident, paralyzed from the waist down. Knowing her well, this had a not good affect on me, and it spills over. I was very distracted for a few days, and still am now at times. What if’s, maybe’s, fearing the worst, it all pops in my head at random times. Constant worry for someone I cared a great deal about.

News like this is never easy. But you have to learn from it. Learn to appreciate what you have, to see a self-destructive pattern you’ve been ignoring, to make the changes needed, to look out for yourself. I’ve stated before that I hold several jobs. A lot of people rely on me for my skills and knowledge, and it’s tough because of that. I’ve been trying to take care of everyone, get everything done as quickly as possible, please everyone as best I can. Obviously this can’t happen. It’s impossible. So now I’m stepping back, taking a look at what I’ve been doing, how I’ve been killing myself to get everything done. Now I’m contemplating changes that’ll better improve my life, and allow me to enjoy what I have a little more. Life is too short, too fragile, it’s too easy to lose; take the time to enjoy yourself and what you have, it can all be taken away at any minute.

Hello to anyone who may be reading this blog.  I blog frequently at many sites; mainly to do with online marketing (my pretended expertise).  If you have a similar online MO like me, you also read a lot of blogs and maybe even subscribe via RSS to your favorites.  So welcome all you long time listeners, first time callers.

I left Wilkes and ventured around the country and world for a while.  Made new friendships, found new likable spots and even managed to squeeze out a divorce all within the past ten years.  Of course i’m not including all the significant scenarios that allowed me to arrive at this juncture.  Those unique and entertaining stories are best left for personal encounters that inquire a polite wtf.  You can read about my incarcerations and vividly wild life style on various blogs…but that will be up to you to find.

Last couple of weeks i’ve been meeting with the Wilkes community.  I’ve been trying to re-engage myself in a school that gave me four unforgettable years.  I was a resident of Pickering.  I bought the books i never opened in the church book store.  I watched the construction of the COB (now Breiseth Hall) and the creation of the quadrangle (which i’m sure goes by another name or geometric shape).  Now i see the new or renovated campus commons and more importantly the new Majors and Programs being offered to Wilkes students.  This is what impresses me more than brick and mortar.  Its the evolution of education and fulfilling the needs of the present as we all look to the future.  I’m proud to know the people involved in the new PPD program…wish we had it back in ‘95!

Part of my professional day is spent researching and utilizing social networking tools for our current and prospective clients.  I was only more than eager when asked to look at theWilkes site and see what future applications might be best suited for an Alumni awakening.  So here i am, blogging.  And here i go fishing (the act of throwing something out there to see what you might catch).  Post a response, give a hello.  It doesn’t really have to matter, but i hope that if you’re a part of the Wilkes family, you would want it to matter.  Go Colonels!

for about the past two months, i have been completely infatuated with playing texas hold ‘em poker!  i always watched my boyfriend and his friends play and never really got into it, until one night at home we put it on the tv and i wanted to learn the rules.  from that point on, i started playing online until i knew what i was doing.  a few days later when it was poker night with the guys, i decided to play and it was so exciting!  it’s a real rush when you know you have the best possible hand!  anyway, after that it was daily that i was going online and playing here and there when i had free time.  then, i bought the world series of poker game for our ps3 at home and religiously watch the world series of poker tournament on tuesday nights!  i just can’t get enough of it!  one day when i’m on the world series of poker tournament and i win my millions, i’ll share it with all of you!

Hey Everyone,

Well, some of the office has returned from an exciting time at the Nightclub & Bar Convention in Atlantic City. We meet many new faces along with others we have met previously. It was great to see and meet all the new people. I hope those who attended the seminar by us learned a few things and enjoyed the complimentary green frog gummies that our CFO prepared. I apologize that there wasn’t time for any magic tricks, healing of the sick or world problems solved. Maybe next time we will find a slot for that. When the rest of the gang returns from the city, we will have more to post about our exciting time. For now I just wanted to give a quick thank you to all those who attended and helped out.

THANK YOU!

So it’s been a month since I blogged. Kinda crazy, except I’ve been travelling a lot this past month. I spent a week in Arizona and driving to North Carolina before coming back to Pennsylvania. It was a neat experience, seeing the different landscape, meeting the different people. Everyone has a story, of course, and those stories are great to hear. Talking to the waitress at The Heart Attack Grill in Phoenix, she told us she was from Canada, moved to Michigan, then went down to Arizona, experiencing the extremes of weather by choice. Hard not to pay attention when she’s wearing a little nurse’s outfit. What’s more interesting is when you meet people from your own area, or at least within 100 miles or so. That happens more often than I expected. But the landscape was amazing. We started our trip at 3pm, so we were in the hills of Arizona when the sun set. Simply amazing.

So the big problem with a week long trip is coming back to work. You try to work on the trip, but there’s no way that’s happening. You check your emails on your phone, but there’s only so much you can do. If you’re like me, you have instant messenger on your phone too, but again, most things require you to be on your computer. So you finally make it back to work and there’s a pile of work on your desk. Enough to make you overwhelmed. So I’ve been struggling to stay above water. I’ve mentioned before that I have several jobs, one of them being a website, PANightLife.com. This site is currently undergoing a full redesign. I had 10 days to get it completed. I’ve got about 6 left now, and it’s a very daunting task. There’s a lot of pages, so wish me a little luck as I pull long, long hours trying to get this finished before we head to AC.

celebrating life

Dr. Randy Pausch, a professor from Carnegie Mellon, spent the last many months of his life in pure happiness after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  I just spent the last hour watching his last lecture at the Carnegie where he started off saying how he didn’t want crying or pity from anyone - he just wanted to tell how he has spent his years as a computer science professor teaching kids through fun.  He talked about his childhood dreams and how over the years he has accomplished them, maybe not exactly, but in a certain way.  I believe that people like Randy lead very inspirational lives.  I can’t imagine what it must be like to be diagnosed with a disease and only having X amount of time to live.  I do hope however, if that ever is something I face in life, I can have the courage to be as happy as he was at the most devastating time.

This past March, a very good friend of mine lost his life in an automobile accident.  Sure, I think about and miss him every day and still cry, but I have learned to celebrate his life and be happy for all the wonderful times we had together rather than always being depressed about it.  When I looked back, I realized that he was always full of life and rarely ever angry.  He was always looking to make the best of everything no matter what the situation was and was so easy going.  I was always so very afraid of death and could never even really talk about it.  Even now it still bothers me, but as my friend lived and Dr. Pausch preached, I will continue to try to live my life with less anger and a whole lot more happiness.  After all, you only get one shot at it.

Appearance Matters

Posted 3 months, 1 week ago at 3:16 pm. 0 comments

As I have yet to blog until now, I apologize. As being one of the newest members here at JumpFrog Marketing, you can imagine that it hasn’t been a priority on my list of things. Now that I have been at JumpFrog marketing for well over a month, it’s time to get into the swing of things. Just earlier today I encountered a situation that isn’t too unfamiliar with one reason for website optimization.

Earlier today for lunch I made a drive to a fast food joint where I ordered my food and went through the drive thru to pay for my order. Like many people, I fall into the category of paying with only debit/credit. Rarely do I carry cash. Well, I spent a good 5 to 10 minutes in the drive thru waiting to get my debit card back when one of the employees said their machines were down and to just drive to the next window and get my food, for FREE. What was the reason? Appearance. The manager found me cute and said that since the food was already made, I could just have it because I was cute and they didn’t tell me about the issue earlier. I made a deal by getting free food mostly because of appearance.

There are times when there is a need to focus on appearance, whether we would like to admit to it or not. Appearance is key to viral success. I, as a consumer, want to go to a site that is legitimate in order to make a purchase. The first step in considering if a site is legit for me is does it look legitimate when I look at it? Is it under construction? Can I find what I need? Does it have security when I enter my information? A good website will bring people and keep people coming back. If I like a site and make a purchase, submit my information for a quote, or etc, that site profits/gains and one of the reasons was probably due to appearance. Appearance of a site is one thing to consider when optimizing.

Atlantic City…Here We Come

Posted 3 months, 2 weeks ago at 10:57 am. 0 comments

Hello all you long time listeners, first time callers.  JumpFrog Marketing has been invited to speak in Atlantic City at the Nightclub & Bar Convention.  No, this isn’t a typical Online Marketing Convention.  But I’m not known to ever do anything typical.  You can pretty much bet on red if i’m betting on black.  My esteemed colleague and i will be introducing ways to break into online marketing whether you are a bar, restaurant or vendor to both.  The key isn’t shady affiliate programs or huge media dollars being pushed on to remnant spots.  We know that the social networking aspect is what its all about.  Check out the show’s information at

http://www.nightclub.com/conventions/atlantic_city_2008/

We will be doing magic tricks, healing the sick and solving world problems all within our 45 minute window.  Please visit us on Tuesday, October 14th at 3:15pm Trump Taj Mahal!
